U.S. Steel and Aluminum Tariffs

U.S. Steel and Aluminum Tariffs

On Thursday March 22 the Trump Administration announced tariffs on steel imports of 25 percent and aluminum imports of 10 percent as part of efforts to shield domestic producers on national security grounds. The tariffs went into effect at 12:01am on Friday, March 23. The tariffs are suspended until May 1, 2018 for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the European Union and South Korea pending discussion with these countries on ways they can reduce their impairment of U.S. industry.
