The Office of U.S. Trade Representative is requesting comments ahead of a public hearing on modernizing the North American Free Trade Agreement. On May18 the U.S. Trade Representative formally notified Congress of the Administration’s intent to enter into negotiations with Canada and Mexico to modernize NAFTA. The notification kicks off a 90-day consultation period with Congress and stakeholders regarding negotiations. Comments should include information on specific tariff and non-tariff barriers and negotiating objectives of U.S. industry. Comments are due to the USTR staff by Monday, June 12. A public hearing will take place on Tuesday, June 27.
