On Friday, May 18 the U.S. Trade Representative addressed a letter informing Congressional leaders of the Administration’s intent to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Notification of the Administration intent to renegotiate NAFTA is mandated by Trade Promotion Authority legislation and kicks off a 90-day consultation period with Congress and stakeholders. Following the 90-day period, and with Congressional input into negotiating objectives, the negotiations can move forward. A copy of the notice of intent can be found here.
