Alternative Security Program

NAEGA, along with the National Grain & Feed Association (NGFA) maintains a U.S. Coast Guard approved Alternative Security Program (NAEGA-NGFA ASP) for grain export facilities that are subject to the facility-security requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002. That law requires facilities that receive commercial vessels greater than 100-gross register tons on international voyages such as facilities exporting bulk commodities to develop, submit and implement facility security plans meeting specific U.S. Coast Guard requirements. The NAEGA-NGFA program is tailored to, and appropriate for, the types of operations and conditions that exist at grain export elevators and provides an industry-wide approach to meeting the agency’s requirements. The NAEGA-NGFA ASP is available to members of NAEGA and the NGFA only.
